UFO Target Earth (1974)

The Seventies were a weird dang time.  From Nixon, the Vietnam War,  the Zodiac Killer, Charles Manson, Disco, Jaws, Bigfoot and of course, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

UFO Target Earth was made 3 years before Spielberg’s seminal flying saucer film, but it is light years ahead in incoherent plot, poor acting and Commodore 64 generated computer graphic weirdness.

You don’t have to be high to understand this movie, but it honestly might help.

The Episode

Musings From The Millionth Monkey

This movie is outside the purview of Bill Warren’s “Keep Watching The Skies”, so I decided to go a bit more wide when it came to finding people who could hate on/love on this movie.

I did not find anyone who loved “UFO Target Earth”, but found plenty of haters.
I’ve linked to the Million Monkey Review below, but here’s just a quick taste to whet your appetite!

The thing that bothers me most about this movie is that everybody who thinks that aliens are here on Earth assumes they are benevolent. How can anybody possibly believe this, based on what we’ve been shown? The aliens disrupt our power for their own purposes, kidnap humans and examine them, and last but not least, hypnotize a human into giving up his life so the aliens can leave Earth. And this is presented as a noble thing to do!

Oh MY.
